I believe the therapeutic process is most effective when an authentic connection is developed to lay the foundation for change. Therapy should ideally be a collaborative relationship in which the therapist and client work together to build fresh coping skills and achieve desired goals. I believe in creating a safe and non-judgmental environment in which clients can explore their own personal pathways to well-being.
I have spent the majority of my career working to treat individuals and families affected by addiction and co-occurring disorders. I utilize an eclectic and integrative approach to therapy, incorporating Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), 12 Step Facilitation Therapy as well as Reality Based treatment techniques. I am also a Certified Clinical Supervisor and can offer LPC or LCSW supervision for anyone in the licensure process.

People describe me as being very safe and supportive – and with that, I have found that therapy benefits you the most when you are challenged to explore what you want and what’s not working.
I am a relational therapist – and WE will be in a relationship with honesty, trust AND challenge. I have been working with individuals, couples, and families for over 15 years now and am trained in insight based family systems, cognitive behavioral therapy, addiction/recovery, and trauma informed approaches (including strength-based, mindfulness, EMDR, DBT).
I will push you to be open about the parts of your life that you cannot be open with others about. With this foundation we will work together to build on the skills you have and to practice new ones. If this sounds like what you are looking for, call me and we’ll explore a relationship that can improve your life.

Therapy is about establishing re-connection. Re-connection to others (friends, family, partners, etc) of course, but primarily re-connection to Self…our feelings, our thoughts, our beliefs, and a sense of safety in our bodies. If you struggle with depression, anxiety, dissociation, substance abuse, self-harming, or other self-sabotaging behaviors you just may be trying your best to survive intolerable circumstances as you move through this world. Without a safe connection to Self, relationships to others are inevitably disrupted.
For over 25 years, I have worked with adults and adolescents diagnosed with co-occurring issues (substance use and mental health) where the underlying cause is trauma (PTSD, Complex Trauma, Attachment and Developmental Trauma). With an overarching psychodynamic approach, I utilize evidenced-based trauma interventions throughout the course of care.
If you would like to explore “bottom-up” approaches such as EMDR, Brainspotting, and Internal Family Systems (IFS)/Parts Work to decrease the intensity of your current symptoms and to establish that re-connection to Self, I look forward to our work together.

I believe that all people desire to be known, accepted, and truly loved for who they truly are. My goal is to help you experience the beauty of being known and help you grow as an individual, work through your struggles, and become more of a whole person as you heal from the things that have brought pain and suffering to your life. I believe in the power of counseling and focus on creating a warm, empathic environment where we can work together to confront the challenges you face through understanding thoughts, behaviors, and beliefs about yourself, others, and the world to implement change.
I have experience with a wide variety of clients ranging from children, teens, and adults providing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, and a Person-centered approach. Some areas of expertise include: ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, PTSD, Family and marriage counseling. I am currently pursuing licensure in PA.
We were never meant to work through our daily struggles alone, so now is the time for you to allow yourself to be seen so you can feel more whole and complete in who you were created to be.
Marney Paul, MA
Marney Paul, MA
In life, everyone experiences trauma and stress that can cause feelings of being stuck. As a therapist, Marney understands that healing is a process that involves a mind-body-spirit approach to treatment. Therapy offers an opportunity to honor one’s truth and work through the resistance and fear that hinder personal growth. Marney provides an accepting and non-judgmental environment that welcomes everyone, regardless of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
Marney’s theoretical approach is both person-centered and humanistic, focusing on how individuals perceive themselves rather than relying on therapeutic interpretation. Together with clients, Marney aims to create a safe environment where the journey of self-discovery and self-acceptance can lead to growth and healing. The best investment anyone can make in life is in themselves.
With experience working with individuals, couples, and families on issues ranging from trauma, anxiety, and depression to family conflict and life transitions, Marney invites others to make an investment in themselves and make decisions out of love, not fear.
